ABOUT US

Monyetla Bursary Project is a PUBLIC BENEFIT ORGANISATION managing an intervention program for matrics. Classes are conducted on Saturdays as well as during the Winter Holidays on the UFS South Campus. This program started in 2007 and 1000’s of learners have been helped to study at university.
Monyetla Bursary Project’s mission is to assist matrics to achieve quality results and to help them find bursaries for tertiary education. The aim is to help families break the cycle of poverty.
In 2018, matrics from Botshabelo who attended this intervention program had a 100% pass rate.
Their Bachelor Pass was 87%! In most of the 13 subjects presented, Monyetla Project learners achieved 10% higher than the Free State Average. In 2019, 1000 matrics attended classes every Saturday. This year the registrations increased to 1500 from 45 different schools. (See Result Analysis for 2019) Matrics receive notes evey Saturday. In addition to tuition by Master Teachers, learners get video lessons on their cell phones to watch at home. They also log into the Monyetla d6 App to get typical exam questions and answers from previous years on their cell phones. This is of great help in preparing for the end of the year exams. Lessons are presented by Master Teachers. Matrics have expresses appreciation for this team that consists of Chief Markers, Subject Advisors, Curriculum Education Specialists and Deputy Chief Markers. The subjects are: MATHEMATICS, TECHNICAL MATHS, MATH LIT, TECHNICAL SCIENCE, PHYSICAL SCIENCES, ENGINEERING GRAPHICS AND DESIGN, LIFE SCIENCES, GEOGRAPHY, ENGLISH HL, ENGLISH FAL, BUSINESS STUDIES, ECONOMICS and ACCOUNTING.
Monyetla Project offers a Leadership Academy to the matrics registered with us. We also train matrics in the skill of Computer Coding. This is a powerful skill to help learners create an income for themselves through web design as well as designing Aplications for electronic divices. Monyetla Bursary Project does more than providing excellent tuition for Grade 12’s. We introduced a training program for matrics to prepare for the National Benchmark Test (NBT’s). All matrics have to write this test before starting tertiary education.
The Winter School conducted in the June holidays, draws matrics from all over the country. Learners come from as far as NW Province, Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Western Cape. Deaf matriculants from Bartimea School attended the Winter School in 2019. These learners became part of the main-stream class. Lessons for Mathematics, Accounting, English and CAT were interpreted simultaneously into Sign Language.
The HOD for Education in the Free State, Advocate Malakoane, thanked Monyetla Bursary Project at the Well-Done Function in January 2018. He indicated that the Monyetla Bursary Project significantly contributed to Free State producing the best overall matric results in South Africa.
It is now the 9th year that Interstate Bus Lines transport matrics from Thaba Nchu, Botshabelo, Ladybrand and Brandfort on Saturdays to the Monyetla Bursary Project.
